  • Open Compressor: Unlike hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors, open compressors are more vulnerable to leakage. In these, the compressor and the motor are positioned as two separate units with individual sealing yet they are attached by a belt or crankshaft. The leakage problems totally depend on the quality of the shaft seals. Open compressors are easily serviceable and are cheap as well.
